GREG SMITH & AHMAD MERRIT KELLER WILLIAMS TEAM REALTY PALATINE IL: INCOMPETENT & UNETHICAL – LAWSUIT CAUSED BY INEPTNESS. I sold a luxury rental property & Keller Williams agents Greg Smith & Ahmad Merrit were paid $21,330 including a $5,000 bonus to perform their duties as professional licensed real estate brokers. As part of the transaction they operated in a "power of attorney" mode for the buyer during the closing & signed/took possession of a $3,500 security deposit check that was required to be returned to the tenant of the rental property w/in 30 days. Despite accepting responsibility for (including signing that they received the live check & in full knowledge they had to delivery to tenant w/in 30 days) Greg Smith & Ahmad Merrit never gave the check to the tenant &/or notified anyone. Both the buyer and Seller were sued by the tenant and had to go through a year or more of legal headaches and legal costs of ~$10,000 each.
