Eden is the most amazing salon. It is a must go to place for THE best hair and body treatments. Angie is a hidden gem. I went to the same guy that does Jennifer Aniston's hair and when it was done it looked EXACTLY like how Angie does it, but Angie is much more fabulous! The staff are great and it's always a pleasure to hear Mena's voice confirming my appointments :) \t\nIf you care about your appearance you would only go the best and that is Eden!!! ...read more

I have had manicures and pedicures through-out the Chicagoland area and Eden Salon & Spa was the best by far and that is why I now come on a regular basis. Their warm and friendly enviroment was refreshing along with the attetion to detail of my services was greatly appreciated. Most places rush you in and out and don't care if you are satisfied or not with your services but not Eden. They even made a follow-up phone call after my first visit for feedback!! Wow, now that is going above and beyond!!! ...read more

Japanese Hair Straightening: It takes time to save time

"It's going to take how long to get your hair straightened?" asks her boyfriend. To the uninitiated, that's a common question when first hearing how long an appointment takes for Japanese hair straightening. The thermal hair straightening technique does take several hours to go through the process, but in the long run it's a great time saver. Just tell that boyfriend, "It takes time to save time!" Then, remind him that's a quote attributed to Chicago Bears' Joe Taylor. To do Japanese hair straightening correctly, a hair styling team has to go through numerous steps, involving washings and application of a special solution to alter the hair's molecular structure so that waves and kinks relax. Then the hair is rinsed, heated and styled until the maximum straightness is ensured. It takes a couple of hours, but then most women are done for the next nine to 12 months, although those with very curly hair may need a touchup at the roots. Sure, the initial procedure involves a chunk of time - anywhere from two to eight hours, depending on your length of hair and the texture issues you are trying to remedy. ...But, the outcome is spectacular. Just imagine get-up-and-go hair every single morning. You'll have that shiny, pin-straight hair all day and won't have to deal with mid-day frizz. It is banished for months at a time with thermal conditioning. Ayn Rand, a writer and philosopher, said, "I'm working to improve my methods, and every hour I save is an hour added to my life." Although written before Japanese hair straightening was introduced to the western world, her quote sounds as if she might have opted for the hair treatment (if it had been available) as a way to use her time wisely. If you have unruly hair, you know how long it takes to blow-dry and style your hair everyday. Multiply that by 365 and realize what a huge time commitment it takes. ...And, that doesn't even take into account the touch-ups that are needed throughout the day and if you plan to go out in public in the evening. With Japanese hair straightening, you schedule the three-hour (maybe more) appointment. That is the initial time investment, but within two weeks you will break even and start saving time. Instead of spending 30 minutes or an hour in front of the bathroom mirror every day blow-drying and flat-ironing your hair, you'll be doing things that you really want to do. Believe it or not, you'll have 15 full days of redeemed time! Here's one more quote from a man who understood what a precious commodity time is. "Take care in your minutes," said Lord Chesterfield, "and the hours will take care of themselves." How true. How true. If you think you might want to consider this solution for waves, frizz, unwanted curls and time-consuming hair care, we are here to answer your questions. The New Over-40 Hair Rules

The hair color that worked in your 20s and 30s may be aging you. Try to go more natural, have your colorist use darker tones for your base color and natural highlights on top, and the brightest highlights around your face. Bangs, layers, and highlights would be your best bet. Tousled pieces hide outgrowth, so you won't need touch-ups every 2 weeks. "A choppy cut with long bangs and bold, sunny streaks is a great way to prevent looking older. Healthy hair. Heat styling and chemical processing make hair porous and prone to breakage protein masks and other hair-repair products are an absolute must. "Splurge on hair treatments as you would on wrinkle creams. If you're thinking red, go blond. "Red hair, unless it's natural, is harsh on mature skin tones. It will expose any blotchiness or brown spots. But a honey blond with golden tones works every time." Your Best Hair Length After 40 Your sexiest hair length may be a lot longer than you think. Age shouldn’t determine how or what length your hair should be. Actually long hair on woman over 4o is sexy and flirty. If you are comfortable with your long hair don’t cut it, all you need to do is soften the layers around the face. No matter how great you look, if you're over 40, your hair isn't what it used to be. Hormonal changes (especially at menopause), years of chemical processing and heat styling, even your diet (smoking, Alcohol) can affect your hair condition. The gradual decline of estrogen slows hair growth; it also reduces production of collagen, so hair becomes drier and more brittle and loses its shine To boost your hair health, for the long term, what you need, no matter what your hair's length: is low-suds, shampoos that are loaded with humectants; rich, nourishing conditioners; protein-based masques; concentrated silicone or botanical serums to reduce frizz and add shine; non-drying mousses and styling sprays; creams to create a body-building base for blow-drying; light, leave-in conditioners for smoothness, silkiness, and manageability. >> Any questions, or to schedule a free consultation, please call or email us. Quick ways to update your hair and makeup

Cat eyes There are some nights when you want accentuate your eyes, and coating on the mascara just won’t do it. That’s when it’s time to bring out the black liquid liner. Extend a thick line past your outer corners and then use a black pencil to trace inside your lower lash line. Apply a light shimmer shadow to your inner corners and your lids, and finish with two coats of lengthening mascara—or some false lashes. Sleek style Who says hair has to be big to be sexy? Sleek side- sweeps is just as sexy plus, you can add a big sparkly clip. To do it, apply styling wax at your crown and work it downward (don’t use too much, and avoid your roots, or your hair will look greasy). Make a deep side part with a comb, and pin your hair into a low bun. The messy updo Work a dab of styling cream through hair while it’s damp, and use a comb to make a center part just toward the front part of your head. Twist your ends loosely up and pin, letting some pieces fall naturally around your face. For more drama, add oversized earrings. A sexy glow To get a sexy beach glow complexion, rub in an oil-free tinted moisturizer a few shades deeper than your skin to add warmth, then use a bronzer stick to add more color to the bridge of your nose, your chin and your cheekbones. Brush on some peachy blush and dab shimmer at the inner corners of your eyes, and you’re camera-ready. Glamour girl waves To get loose waves, rub mousse on damp hair and blow dry with a round brush. Next, wrap one section at a time around a two-inch curling iron. (If you have bangs, just style as you usually would.) Then, flip hair down and up misting on light-hold hairspray. Shiny, straight hair Smooth a dime-sized amount of straightening serum onto your hair while it’s damp and dry it straight with a round brush, pointing your dryer’s nozzle downward (this beats frizz and flyaways). Finish with a spritz of shine spray. Schedule your FREE hair analysis with us and get ready to get absolutely phenomenal! We are located in Palos Heights, IL.
