During a recent emergency trip to pet vet due to my dog snoopy being hit by car. Dr Cidon, Owner of pet vets immediately took in snoopy and began treating him. While seeming to be quite professional and knowledgeable of vet medicine. It turned out to be more than of an illusion than fact. Less than five minutes after Dr Cidon informed me that she had stablized snoopy and she expected a full recovery. I walked in to pet snoopy and he fell to the side dead in his cage. Upon questioning Dr Cidon she refused to explain what happened an said well I tried. Her Nurse Michelle for snoopy and Dr Cidon left early for home. Since then she has refused to answer my calls and I received a collection from pet vets today for snoopys bill. ...read more

Prairie State Animal Hospital

This animal hospital is great if the ONLY things you want done by them are the typical things that any basic vet tech can do. They are seemingly kind to your pet,can clip nails, weigh pet and give you basic anti-flea med.s etc. just fine. BUT..If you actually want a doctor for your animal I suggest you veer far far away from this clinic. A little background on our experiences here: Our dog had been coming here for years for all his basic shots and check ups and they seemed normal and fine. Then our dog started to have breathing problems which they told us must be bronchitis and put him on medication. When this didn't clear it up,they switched med.s,then still again, switched medications. After about a three month period of this our dog got worse and worse. Finally we ended up with a VERY expensive visit to and emergency vet clinic one night with a barely breathing pet. They immediately put him in an oxygen cage and told us that he was doing VERY VERY poorly. Our poor little baby barely knew who we were or where he was he was getting so little oxygen in. Upon their advisement, our family pooled our money and got him a few chest x-rays and some basic medications. To our horror, we found out that his lungs were in terrible, terrible shape. He either had very advanced lung cancer, unbelieveably bad bronchitis or something fungal. After talking with the doctor there,we were sure that it was most likely advanced lung cancer and thus,we had to put our baby to sleep. This one one of the hardest days I've ever had to fight through in my life, this dog was my best friend. When we later contacted Prairie State they kindly decided not to cash our postdated (as we're broke like everyone these days),check from his latest visits. They admitted that they SHOULD have offered a chest x-ray up as an idea and not just immediately said that it was bronchitis. They noted though, that they knew we were broke and wanted to save us money. THIS WAS SO RIDICULOUS TO ME,BEYOND RIDICULOUS!! They never even offered us the option as idea with the note possibly that, "it's an option but it is exepensive."! Had we just had that option,we could've had the x-ray done sooner, before he was in critical condition and really had some time to cherish with him above and beyond all else. We've had dogs that had to be euthanized before and we've always given them fantastic last days, long park runs, whole pizzas to themselves, everythng they could want. Prairie State robbed us of at least one last day with a coherent,non-desperately gasping for air pet. DO NOT trust your friend's life in their hands. I am at a terrible, painful loss because I made that mistake. ...read more
