This is another place my friend Jason and I like to hang out from time to time and watch USC football games. I always liked it a bit more than he did because the waitresses were willing to flirt a little bit more. I also liked the atmosph... ...read more

V & B Liquors
We may be small but we have a wide variety of liquor, wine and beer. We carry a nice mix of fine cigars which are kept fresh in our humidor. We pride ourselves in organization, cleanliness and a bunch of friendly workers, willing to help at a drop of a dime. Come check us out at the corner of Dempster and Harlem in the Lonore Plaza. ...read more

Spring has Finally Sprung!
If you don't like the weather, wait around for a few minutes and it will change. That's a common theme here in the Chicago area, and often very true. This Spring has been no exception. One day the kiddos are out throwing water balloons at each other in the front yard, the next they are back in their winter coats and hats on their way to school. But today, it looks like Spring has finally sprung and it may actually be here to stay. With the change in the weather, people around here and everywhere start to come out of their psuedo-hybernation, that state where sleep seems like the most attractive activity and layers, both of the body and clothing, are most welcome. As we wipe Winter's rest from our eyes and shed our many layers, as our activity level goes up, usually our desire to give nourishment to both body and soul increases, and we become more aware of what we are feeding ourselves. We wander the groceries, often gravitating towards the produce department, looking for foods that are brimming with nutrients. We've all heard it said that to eat well, we should shop only the perimeter of the grocery and ignore the inside aisles. Although that would be the ideal, most of us cannot resist the temptations that lie within. But when we get there, often all we find is junk food...food that tastes good for the moment on the tongue, but does nothing to nourish the body. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to peruse the aisles in search healthy, fun, enjoyable foods that also offer healthful benefits...and actually find them! There is such a place, a little oasis in a storefront in Morton Grove. On the northeast corner of Harlem and Dempster in Lonore Plaza marked by green awnings lies The Art of Eating Well. Although it's not a traditional health food store, it is a store with a healthy approach, offering foods full of fiber and protein, but missing the refined flours and sugars that plague the aisles of the usual grocery store. With a large number of items for those who eat gluten-free, many items for those with other food allergies, and a store full of endulgence for anyone who eats sugar-free, including diabetic friendly foods, anyone can add pleasurable, healthy eating to their Springtime metamorphosis. It's a beautiful day in the Chicago area today. Let's enjoy it. Who knows what tomorrow's weather will bring! ...read more
