About Meredosia, IL

Meredosia is a city located in Morgan County, Illinois. It is considered to be part of the Jacksonville Micro Area. The city is located in the area referred to as the Illinois River Valley. At one time watermelons, cantaloupe, and fresh vegetables were grown in the area and sold at road side markets. This form of employment has declined in recent years due to small farmers selling their land off to bigger companies and turning to factory work or move away from the area. The two largest industrial businesses located in Meredosia are the Merdosia Power Plant, owned by AmerenEnergy and opened in 1948 and the Celanese Corporation, formerly National Starch, a plastic and resin manufacturer. Other area businesses include Tim's Auto Center, Approach Restaurant, and Adm Grain Company.

Myself and two Friend's were out last Sunday November 7th. for a motorcycle ride and happened upon this Restaurant under the Illinois river Bridge approach (hence the name) in Meredosia. Didn't look too fancy on the outside, but figured what the heck we'll go in and check it out. Very nice inside ,casual kind of homey, the Food and service were both very good and prices were reasonable. The lunch crowd started and what a mix Bikers and Churchgoers all in the same Dining Room. Very Enjoyable will go again soon. ...read more

Tims Auto Center

I've dealt with Tim's Auto Center several times. I've purchased 1 car from him and he gave me a good deal (I know what a good deal on a car is and I like to bargain). He doesn't keep alot of cars on the lot, but he is willing to try and find a car for you (I assume this keeps his overhead down, so he can afford to sell for less). I like oddball vehicles that are hard to find and he can't always get them for me, but I wish I could buy every car from Tim. ...read more
