The village of Divernon, founded in 1887, is located in Sangamon County, Illinois. Major attractions within minutes of Divernon include the 100-acre Lincoln Memorial Garden & Nature Center, which features six miles of trails, footbridges, a pond, eight stone council rings, and dozens of wooden benches inscribed with Lincoln quotes and the Chatham Railroad Museum, whose collection includes a caboose, train models and antique train paraphernalia. Each year in July, the Annual Divernon Homecoming, which features a car show, food booths, a cook-off, parade and bands, is held here. One of the best places to visit when you are in Divernon is nearby, 3,022-acre Sangchris Lake State Park, with 120 miles of shoreline and where you can enjoy activities such as fishing, boating, camping and hunting.
