Barrington Ob-Gyn Assoc LTD

I have 4 children. All were delivered by Barrington Obe/Gyne at Good Shepherd Hostpital. Three were c-sections and one was a Vbac. Some Doctors no longer practice her, but Dr. Digullio assisted in the first and third delivery and delivered the fourth. He has wonderful bedside manor and seems to care greatly about your baby's and your comfort and health. During regular visits, not related to pregnancy, he takes great care in answering questions and informing you of options. The nursing staff as well as the office staff are also polite and considerate. I would recomend this Doctors office to anyone. ...read more

Ending Emotional Eating

Hello Everyone, My name is Amy Gartner, LCSW and I am a counselor in Crystal Lake, Illinois.   For years I have been leading workshops and support groups on the courageous struggle of ending emotional eating.   Some call it compulsive overeating and some call it binge eating disorder.   Whatever you call it, it is the same struggle.....eating when you are not physically hungry to bury an uncomfortable feeling, to manage stress or to take care of ourselves.   Are you someone who gives to others at the expense of your own needs, meets their needs, listens to their problems and asks for nothing in return.   At some point all of this giving to others depletes you and you reach for food.   How can we take care of ourselves and still be their for the ones we love. Ask yourself these questions......Where do I feel depleted?  What do I need more of?   What I am really hungry for?   Why do I put others needs ahead of my own?   Why don't I ask for help?  Answer these questions for yourself and then reflect on the answers.   First and foremost, Do you believe you deserve to take care of yourself and to ask for help?   You won't take care of yourself if you don't understand that you deserve it.   Start telling yourself 10 times a day that yes you love yourself and you do deserve to take care of yourself.   Look in the mirror and say, "I love you and I will take care of you!"   You don't have to believe it.....just say it to yourself over and over.   Eventually, you will start to believe. Some of the things that I do on a daily basis to take care of me are: I say "NO" to things that I don't want to do, that I don't have time for and that don't nurture my soul. I take time to restore.   This is quiet time for me.   Sometimes I read, write in my journal, mediate, or listen to soothing music. I exercise.   Not to change my body or to look like someone in a magazine, but I exercise because it sends endorphins to my brain and I feel better.  I exercise for my mental health. I eat food that gives me energy and tastes good. I sleep 8 hours a night whenever possible. I spend time with my good friends who nurture my soul. You get the idea.   Everyone's list is different. When you start taking care of you, your stress will decrease, your energy will increase and you will find that you are using food less and less often.
