The city of Carrollton is located in Greene County, Illinois, which was home of two warring tribes, the Kickapoos and the Pottawatamies. Major attractions within minutes of Carrollton include the Alton Museum of History and Art and the Jersey County Historical Society Museum. Each year in June, the Greene County Fair is held here. The schools here are Carrollton High, Carrollton Elementary and St. Johns Elementary. One of the best places to visit when you are in Carrollton is the nearby, 6,394-acre Cuivre River State Park, with camping, boating, fishing, swimming, trails, playgrounds and picnic areas.
