Carlyle is located in Clinton County, Illinois about 50 miles north of St. Louis. Carlyle is home to Carlyle Lake, the largest man made lake in Illinois. Large area businesses include the Bretz Wildlife Lodge & Winery and the Governors Run Golf Course. Carlyle High School is the largest school in town. Carlyle hosts the annual Clinton County Fair.
