A good variety of Mexican cuisine in west Belleville. The atmosphere is as expected of a dive in the area. The staff was friendly and the food came out quick. It is very casual, it used to be a fast food restaurant, not somewhere to take a date. Prices are about average. They have everything from fajitas to taquitos, carnitas to huevos rancheros. My husband and I ate at Zapata's today and we were very disappointed. We bought the buffet and half of the trays were almost empty. People were having to ask for the trays to be refilled. I asked for the corn casserole and the server told me they only have a certain number of them and they were all gone. It seems to me if they offer a buffet they should make sure they have enough food for the day and should keep the trays well stocked. We have eaten there many times but after today we are in no hurry to ever go back again. I felt like asking for a discount since we didn't get the food that we should have. The morons they have calling themselves bouncers kick out me, the sober one, just because I told them I was waiting for the people I was taking home. They then proceeded to push me to the door after I told them they had no right to touch me. I was calm and compliant yet they continued to tell me I was trespassing. After I was in the alley waiting for the people who depended on me for the night, the bouncer continued to follow me into the alley and threaten me with violence. I can see that they deal with irrational and belligerent people through out the night but I was clearly not one of those people. They think they are police officers yet they are nothing more than glorified babysitters for the people who pay "their" wages.
