Hello everyone! I wanted to thank you for your interest in the US Army and checking out this little space on the web dedicated to something near and dear to me - something I believe in. Of course first, here is an introduction! I was born and raised in a suburb north of Seattle, WA where I graduated from Lynnwood High School in 1991. For years, I knew I wanted to serve my country in the military and finally decided to join the US Army in April of 1992 as a Single Channel Radio Operator-Maintainer. I attened Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC and completed my radio training at Fort Gordon GA, just outside of Augusta. Having Basic Airborne training and my first duty station guaranteed in my contract, I spent three weeks attending Airborne School in October of 1992 at Fort Benning GA. My initial assignment was to Stuttgart Germany, home of Porsche and Daimler Benz (now DaimlerChrysler.) I was assigned to the 52nd Signal Battalion with special duty to the Special Operations Command, Europe (SOCEUR) (Airborne) providing communications for the SOCEUR staff on real-world missions throughout Africa, the Mid-east and most of Europe. In December of 1996, I was assigned to the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Lewis, WA. While serving there, I traveled extensively throughtout Asia and the Pacific providing communications support. Then, in early 2002, I was reassigned back to Stuttgart Germany - back to SOCEUR but assigned to the 112th Signal Battalion who had in my 5 year absence, assumed control of the communicaitons detachment that supports SOCEUR. In September 2005, I was selected to become an Army Recruiter. My request for the Seattle Recruiting Battalion was approved and I was assigned with duty to the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho recruiting office. Of course, in Janurary 2006 our office moved about 4 miles north, to Hayden ID. I am married now for 5 years and my wife and I have a son who was born at Kootenai Medical Center in 2006. On the job now for 18 months, the area that I am responsible for covers more than 1100 square miles and includes all of Benewah County Idaho and the cities of Post Falls (and State Line), Worley, Harrison, Avery and Calder. Later, I will include more information regarding basic qualifications needed to become a Soldier, benefits for serving, incentives for becoming a Soldier and other programs as alternatives to a straight up enlistment. Also, I will periodically include current hot jobs, or as we call them "critical shortage" jobs which suprisingly, rarely includes Infantryman! Lastly, I'll explain why local employers would want to have a Soldier, either Reserve or Former active duty returing to the community, as an employee! Unitl then, stay safe and put forth your best! If you have any questions please contact me - if I don't know the answer, I'll get it for you!
