Welch Music

Welch music offers insurance on rented instruments that DOES NOT COVER ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE! Dunkley Music DOES cover accidental damage. You may trust your kid to never accidentally damage an instrument - do you trust all of the people at school that it is exposed to? Also - got a guilt trip for bringing in a damaged instrument EVEN THOUGH I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF??? The best part - they did not have a loaner - and the repair took 3 weeks. ...read more

Old Boise Guitar Company

A great music store! Thus far I have bought one instrument from OBG, and sold two others on consignment. I have always been treated very well by the folks who work there. They are very knowledgeable and helpful, and for the most part are musicians themselves. "Test drives" are welcome on the instruments, but you are expected to keep volumes reasonable and treat the instruments with respect - as it should be! A much nicer experience than you'll find at that big national chain store over at Curtis and Fairview. OBG carries only high quality brands, prices are competitive, and selection is very good for a small, local shop. Lessons available too. And, they have a luthier who takes work through the shop - his work is first-rate. Highly recommended - Boise is lucky to have a shop of OBG's caliber. ...read more

The Record Exchange

By boiseman73 at Citysearch

Ah, the Record Exchange...I have been visiting this place since 1987. I have seen many iterations of the store, ch-ch-ch-changes, and many wonderful employees over the years. For a town like Boise which is fairly bland, the Record Exchange offers a bit of spice. The still hold true to their name, offering a good amount of vinyl, however these days most of the stuff on the shelves is in CD format. Other record shops have come and gone downtown (6th & Main had one, 13th & Main as well) but the Record Exchange has outlived and outshone them all. Yay for the Record Exchange...as long as there's music. ...read more

Center Stage

By Nan

On 06/11/2009 I walked into Center Stage to speak with them in regards to music for my upcoming wedding. I was standing behind a local vendor that was there to introduce his company. The rep was very professional and proud to explain that his company was available as a service to Center Stage and also that his company was a Buy Idaho Company. The managing Partner Sande Zavala was the rudest business owner I have ever seen. She verbally abused the rep and accused him of soliciting for business. Mind you, he was only there to introduce his company not to sell her anything. after listening to the awful woman for a few minutes, I decided she was not going to win my business. NOT NOW,NOT EVER. I highly recomend that No ONE do business with Center Stage!!!! Please spread the word that If an owner of a local business thinks she can walk all over people and think nothing of verbally abusing someone in front of potential customers, then why would anyone want to do business with her. ...read more

Two Men Play Music

All songs on the album were written over the last seventeen years by Eric Thomas Heffernan(Heff) former guitar player/vocalist/co-founder Mind's Hideaway Chicago, IL. All percussion by Micah Estep. This album consists of seventeen songs which I have written over time between the ages of 13 and 29. Two Men Play Music has an extensive set list of original songs with elements of a variety of genres. These summer days. There's, oh so many different ways, to relax. So be sure we don't let our workin' days go takin' a tax. Also be sure, that we don't let our weakest days go takin' a tax. I really think I wanna ride a bike. No, I think I'm gonna fly a kite. No, actually I'm gonna take a hike. These summers days at Blues, Brews, BBQ's. Everybody all around just get on up and we can break it on down at Blues, Brews,&BBQ's. I like to bounce around a lot. Like jumping bean meets tator tot. So listen very carefully, as my words drift off to the sea. Many things live on my mind. They've lived there for quite some time. Things that keep me up at night so that I can make them all right. I wonder if this is all real. The things I see. Where do I go? I lookin the mirror. Where will I be this time next year? Hope that I'm still sittin' here. Jammin' out. Drinkin' beer. ...read more
