Do not use this shop's repair service. They only offer warranties on labor, not parts. So if they put a part in your device incorrectly and it breaks or ruins another component, they will not replace the part(s). Also, the shop is extremely unorganized, they will not return phone calls or come anywhere close to completing repairs in the time frame they tell you. They also hire untrustworthy employees who they later use as scapegoats for when you inquire why its taken 4 months for your item to be repaired. I lost nearly 1200 dollars on a TV+repairs because this shop ruined my unit. Also, the owner made some disparaging about Mormons while referring to a former employee. ...read more

Horrible service. Inept manager. Rude employees. Never have I met a more uneducated unclassy ignorant group of people in my life. They even violate the guidelines laid down to them by their regional manager. The BBB from Texas was called in to resolve an issue, and this manager took it upon herself to violate those guidelines as well. It should be notated that not one payment was ever missed. The due date was the 10th of each month. Beginning the sixth of each month I would be called daily as well as the references that I submitted to them were called daily and I would get a home visit each time inquiring where my payment was. Last time I knew it's illegal to discuss the status of my accounts with anybody that's not on the account. Again my due date was the 10th these calls and inquiries began the sixth. I can prove in written documentation that My payment was never missed. Perhaps Aarons at a different location might be a good company, but this store - Aaron's should close it down. It is absolutely horrible stay away. ...read more

This company had violated my consumer rights no less than 15 times. I gave them a debit card to run on the 10th if each month - they always ran it early and now are refusing to accept our checks - the female general manager claims "we must have a bounced check somewhere. " my husband listened as SHE called her processor - low and behold it is Aaron's fault as they don't process enough. They call my references asking for payment - totally against FDCA - I am serving them with legal documents and proceeding with suit. Funny thing is - the appliances are just about paid off and they begin all this stuff. DONT USE THEM ...read more

Touchscreen Technology Demystified

It’s something we already take for granted: whenever we touch an icon on the screens of our electronic devices, we expect something to happen. And not just anything, either; we expect our gadgets to do exactly what we want it to do, when we want it done, and all at the touch of a fingertip. It wasn’t too far back that touchscreen technology was a source of wonder. Today, touchscreen technology is a given for a lot of of the latest gizmos—everything from tablets to GPS units. How, precisely, does touchscreen technology work? How do so many of our screens know what to do when we touch the icons shown on them? The answer isn’t that simple. That’s because there are a few different types of touchscreen technologies, and each of them works in a different way. Resistive touchscreens This is the most common and the most affordable type of touchscreen technology today. With resistive technology, screens are coated with an electrically conductive layer. Your fingertip causes the electrical current to change when you touch the screen. The device’s controller receives the information and preforms the action you requested. Surface wave touchscreen This kind of touchscreen is popular as well. It relies on ultrasonic waves that pass over the touchscreen. When you touch the panel, you essentially alter the wave. Depending on how and where it is changed, specific data is given to the device’s controller to relay what action to preform. Capacitive touchscreens Devices that rely on capacitive touchscreens tend to have the sharpest image quality. Capacitive touchscreens are coated with a material that sends a continuous electrical current across the sensor. Fortunately, the body is also a form of electrical device. This means that when you touch the screen you absorb some of the current. The device registers this disturbance, causing it to send information to its controller. The unit will then perform the action that you requested. Luckily, we don’t have to truly understand the science behind touchscreen technology have fun with it, and we don’t have to be engineers to understand that this technology isn’t going away any time soon. ...read more

Internet Phishing Scams: Keep Cyber Thieves Away from Your Business

Phishing scams are at the top of cyber criminals’ moneymaking lists. It’s disconcerting that the important data of organizations such as Sony are under threat from phishing scams. But unlike the widespread view, these scams affect small enterprise owners as much as they affect the big corporations. TheInternet Crime Complaint Center(partners with the FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) have reported more than 300,000 cases of online phishing scams and other Internet related crimes. To give you a better understanding as to why your small business is of great value to a cyber criminal, let’s take a look at what phishing is exactly.  What is phishing? What does “phishing” mean? Phishing is the attempt to access private data, such as financial information, usernames, and passwords. This is accomplished by making false websites, graphics, email accounts, and phone numbers. The subject is convinced, by one method or another, to reveal these types of information that may be used to steal their identity (social security numbers are a popular target). For small businesses, phishing scams may attempt to obtain access to customer credit card information.  Examples of small business phishing scams Thousands of small business owners have received emails from the IRS informing them that they must fill out W-4 forms or other tax forms, and return them via fax.  These emails look remarkably real.  Right down to the official IRS government seal.  Unfortunately, many owners are afraid that they are going to be audited by the IRS if they don’t take care of it right away. At the official website,IRS.gov, the IRS states that it will not contact companies through email first. Beware and use caution before clicking on a link claiming to be from them. Your company email can be a target Another way these thieves gain information is by targeting a specific person within a business by sending him or her some kind of false communication that looks completely reliable but ends up launching a virus or malware. This virus then infects the entire network, giving thieves access to private company data.  Phone phishing Beware that there are also “Phone phishing scams”, in which someone claiming to be from a bank, for instance, might ask you to call and verify your account. How to protect your business against phishing Visiting theAnti-Phishing Work Groupwill give you wise advice to safeguard your business against phishing scams and gives you useful information on how to avoid becoming a victim. Some of their advice follows, such as: Make sure your employees are aware of what phishing scams are, and are cautious when reading and responding to suspicious emails.  Always err on the side of caution.  Instead of clicking a link, open another browser window and go to the official website. Never give out company financial information such as bank routing numbers to an inquiry made via email.  Your bank does not need you to confirm your account information…they already have that. An email like that even if it has your bank’s logo is a fake. Make it a habit to check your accounts regularly for suspicious charges and withdrawals. Make sure every computer used has up-to-date virus and malware protection.  Schedule regular full system scans.  Never download “anti-virus” software from an unknown entity. It’s better to stick with trusted brands. The APWG keeps statistics on phishing scams and offers lots of advice on defending your business.  Phishing is almost impossible for law enforcement to stop.  The best defense is to educate yourself and your employees on how to identify phishing scams and stay up to date on the latest information. ...read more
