My car broke down in Spirit Lake (I am a resident) and Jennings Auto was the closest repair shop so I gave them a call (Thursday morning). After numerous calls to them (they were not good about calling me back) the quote was $600 for a fuel pump replacement. I had the car back on the next Wednesday. The fuel pump replacement part for my car is available for $220-$400 if I were to buy it myself. They charged around $470 for the fuel pump part(s) alone! I am hoping they just went with the highest quality part and added a markup or I was EXTREMELY ripped off. "The book" or the mechanics guide describes 2 hours labor for replacing the fuel pump. They charged $200 labor. Tow for about 5 miles in the middle of the day was $50. SUMMARY: They charged toward the very high end of what would be acceptable, and $100+ over their original quote.
