Today officially starts the 2011 tax season. Most tax prep firms must file all tax returns electronically to comply with the new IRS rules. They want to go paperless and so do I. For those of you that prepare your own tax return you can click on my website button and prepare your own for about the same cost as store bought software. If you are getting a refund you can have it direct deposited to your bank account and have the small fee deducted from your refund check. If you owe you can still file now and have your bank account debited on April 18th this year (April 15th is a Washington D.C. holiday). ...read more

Starting in January, 2011 if your accountant/tax preparer prepares more than 100 tax returns per year then they will be required to file all tax returns they prepare electronically. There will will be a waiver for at least this coming year for people who still want to mail them but they will have to do it themselves. The ccountants/tax preparers are banned from doing it for you. The tax business is slowly but surely going the paperless route. The sooner you hop on the bandwagon the easier and better off you'll be in the long run. I personally will honor a customer's request for a waiver in 2011 but starting in 2012 I will only file tax returns electronically...no waivers. ...read more

This coming tax season starts mandatory electronic filing. There may be some waivers but as of this time I have seen none. The only way around this is to do your own tax return but in the near future this won't even be a choice. ...read more
