If you are a dad with teen aged drivers, live in North Georgia, and you haven't needed a good body shop...hang on...you will. While serving in Afghanistan, I had Aaron paint a custom "pin-up" style picture of Rosie the Riveter on my wife's Harley. Wow, what a fantastic job! The detail and craftsmanship was excellent. Not only did Aaron honor military veterans by giving me a discount for serving in the military, but Stephanie even drove my wife home after she dropped off the bike at the shop and didn't have a ride home. Paint Repair Clinic" Paint Repair The last couple months we have had more paint repairs than we have in a while.We like a challenge as we have said before and repairing custom paint can be seen by some as the impossible. We are a little different than most. We challenge ourselves and push the limit in repairing pearls, metallics, candys and design repairs. In light of all the repairs we have received we also know that there are those who will try to repair them on their own.So, we wanted to give those daring few tips from our experts. 10 CustomPaintRepair Tips 1)Make sure the repair area is cleaned thoroughly with a surface prep (i.e. Simple Green) then wipe with rubbing/denatured alcohol. Always use lint free shop towels or micro fiber towel. 2)Keep the repair area as small as possible. 3)Tape off around your repair with green painters tape to avoid making your repair area any larger. 4)If your repair has gone through your clear coat and into the paint, sand with 600 grit sandpaper to remove any rough edges. 5)Wipe repair area again with rubbing/denatured alcohol to remove dust and grease to ensure clean surface for primer to bond to. 6)Usebare metal primerif you have reached the bare metal.Follow manufacturer recoat time on all primers. 7)When possible use the manufacturers paint code or touch up paint. Your local automotive paint shop may be able to color match for you as well. 8)Depending on the size of your repair you can use a cotton swab or a toothpick to apply the paint for very small repairs. 9)Allow paint to dry for 24 hours and if needed sand any high spots with 1500 grit sandpaper. Be careful not to sand through clear coat around your repair. 10)Buff with a good rubbing compound and a buffing pad or micro fiber cloth.
