We were looking at homes and one of the homes had been recently appraised by AAA Appraisal Services. We had been looking at homes for awhile and had a good feel for the market. The selling agent proudly showed us the appraisal. I was shocked. It was $20K more than the list price and almost $60K more than comparable homes we had seen. I showed the appraisal to a friend that is an appraiser and he considered it borderline fraudulent. They used homes that were not comparable from time periods that were not comparable and generally skewed the numbers. I would not trust them appraising my home. ...read more
