The city of Swainsboro, named after Col. Stephen Swain, is located in Emanuel County, Georgia. Major attractions include the Smith Medical Museum and Coleman House, a picturesque Victorian era mansion. Each year the Pine Tree Festival and Timber Exposition (May), Fall Festival Downtown (Oct), the Arts Emanuel Festival (Oct.) and each fall, the Emanu’Ole Opry, are held here. The biggest schools here are East Georgia College and Swainsboro Technical College. One of the best places to visit when you are in Swainsboro is the Swainsboro Raceway, which features year-round racing including most weekends and holidays.
