Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

1.0

By Rev. Ronald C. Griner

08-06-2011 My brother stopped at the Perry Gracker Barrell on his way from Macon to pick up a meal for my wife and myself. We live in Fitzgerald. I ordered Roast beef & gravy, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried okra, and corn. My wife ordered Roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes and gravy, carrotts, and corn. We got a very small portion of roast bee and it was absolutely the worst I have ever put in my mouth. It didn't even taste like roast beef. The mashed potatoes were very lumpy with what seemed like quartered pieces of potatoe in it. The fried okra was soggy anf greasy. My wife got sick off of her roast beef. I think the state needs to check this store, or if they have I would like to see their rating. Think I'm through with cracker barrell for a while. UGH!!! ...read more

We Really Care About You!

To my Beloved Customers, I want to thank each and every one of you who dines with us for lunch and dinner. It is our mission to serve you adequate portions of high-quality, home-style cooked food in our restaurant. I truly appreciate the feedback and accolades from so many of you that patronize us regularly. I also know that we are human and that makes the possibility of a mistake likely from time to time. We work and train very hard not to do that, but when, or if we do, please let me know.  "If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with your service, the quality of your meal, or the amount of food we have served you, contact me in person to allow me the opportunity to address it". I am nearly always on site during business hours and promise immediate resolution. Thank you, Judy Wenger Owner, Oil Lamp Restaurant ...read more

The history of the Oil Lamp Restaurant

The Oil Lamp Restaurant, founded by Judy Wenger, has been serving up some of the best Southern-Style, home-cooked meals in this area since 1996. Miss Judy was raised Mennonite and grew up on a farm in Goshen Indiana. When her older sister married into a family already running a restaurant here in Georgia, Miss Judy moved with her to join their staff. Upon gaining 9 years of hands-on experience, Miss Judy decided to branch out on her own and opened a bakery in Montezuma, Georgia. With yet another success story, she expanded again by opening the Peach Valley Mennonite Restaurant. In 1996 she moved to Perry where she opened the now famous Oil Lamp Restaurant. They were located at 626 General Courtney Hodges Boulevard for thirteen years. They moved just a few blocks up the street to her current location at 401 General Courtney Hodges Boulevard. The new location offers a larger dining area and a more customer friendly floor plan. Miss Judy, with help from Diana, Malinda and Mindy, prepare and oversee the food preparation every day for the Oil Lamp Restaurant. They work hard to see to it that the food coming from their kitchen offers the best taste of hometown goodness you can find. All of the desserts offered at the Oil Lamp Restaurant are created from recipes "patiently perfected" by Miss Judy over the years and are made fresh in her kitchen every day. Miss Judy also opened a deli-style sandwich shop in January of 2005. Judy's Sandwich shop offers a large selection of hot and cold sandwiches served up in a cafe setting. Judy's Sandwich Shop is located in at 1201 Sunset Avenue in the Perry Plaza. ...read more
