It's amazing how many realtors purchase templates loaded with the same bells and whistles thinking that is going to attract buyers. Imagine how many competitors you have in the same town or city. Each of those hundreds of realtors has the same "Dream Home Finder, MLS, and local school information on their site. But what is driving people to those sites? Nothing. Work you tail off or pay big bucks for Search Engine Optimization, and you are still buried under mass hotel marketing, and worse. If you take a few moments to think about it, you will realize that you need to connect with the public outside of the big sales push. There are a lot of ways to do this, but the easiest is to create a simple community news and information site. Let me tell you why. A news site can be auto fed by rss feeds, and not need any updating by you. It can spotlight you in a bio article, showcase your homes in the "Style" section, be loaded with ads directly linked to your website. Best of all, it can be listed in places you could never list your real estate site for any amount of money. Wikipedia for example. Think about it. A person who is going to move to a new city types that name into Google. What is at or near the top? The Wiki article! That's where people learn about that city, not from a realtor's website. A news and information link can be on a wiki article, when a realtor's site would be removed. Camden Life (http://camdenlife.com) is an example site we created. We don't do much with it, but the front page is loaded by rss feeds, and it is so easy to update, that it only takes seconds. Our ad is in the center of the front page and links to our site (http://caldwellmediaassociates.com). Notice theembedded videos. By generating traffic to a similar site, it can deliver customers you would spend a fortune to get with standard marketing methods. It costs about $5 a month to run the news site. Another example is a free classifieds site. People can post their yard sales, cars, and other items for sale there. Of course yours are the only real estate ads, and you can also add your banner ads to the top.
