The baked progs were very supple, just like we used to get in Thrimbuhl. I've never seen such plump, fresh dyryngi either, just short of dormancy, and literally bursting with juice. The mentors there appear to favour rustic preparation, which is fine as far as it goes, but don't expect super-symmetrical nibbets or perfect eesel spheroids in your haarbeast stew. The home-brewed korsavl is rich and satisfying, and leaves just the perfect sting in your throat, but don't drink more than two or you'll be up for a month, singing Ryolian battle-dirges. ...read more

Food was awesome!!! I was a little surpized of the portion size. It's probably good for the health as it will avoid you from overeating. But it was just not enough for me.... I could probably have eaten 2 plates with their size. I didn't have the cake, but each piece was real small for the price you have to pay. Since I can only eat couple bites of sweet things anyway, I wasn't going to spend $5 on a very small piece of cake. Anyway, the food was great but don't know if I would go back again . ...read more

Went in the fall when they had the pumpkin patch with my 6 month old daughter and husband. Wonderful food. My husband was definitely filled up, he could not even finish his meal - and he tends to eat a lot. Food was fresh!! I was pleasantly surprised. Looking forward to having family come in town for them to enjoy it too!! ...read more

We've come to the end of an exciting year!  Many new things took place in 2009, that promise to make 2010 another great year.  The addition of Shirley Mahoney and Judy Bridges in the gift shop has been a great one.  It has been fun getting to know them better and seeing their talents in the shop.  There is always something new and the shop has really looked great.  Our customers have really enjoyed their two friendly faces to greet them at the door. Mike learned alot about gardening as he ran the garden area this summer.  He has become guite a carpenter too, building a shed for Prissy, and Gabby the goats, Jacob the donkey and even himself in the garden center.  The vegatable garden did ok, the spring rains kept us from getting seed in the ground so we got a late start.  We were still able to serve many fresh vegetables on Friday nights during the summer months.  Friday nights were also a change for us.  For the first time since we open in 1981 we do not require reservation for dinner on Friday nights.  We now serve from 6 until 8 every Friday.  It was the right move we have been very busy.  Fall was a great season for us.  The pumpkin patch was a great success.  We had several hundred children from area schools and day cares, come for a hay ride to the pumpkin patch to choose their pumpkin and then return for a sack lunch.  Even the pouring rain did not keep them away,  all the children that day showed up in rain boots and jackets and had a great time playing in the rain. The article in the October Southern Living  brought us many new customers from all over the state. It has reallly fun with all the buzz it produced.  It was a great honor for such a prestious magazine to do an article on us. We ended the year with a great Christmas.  The shop looked great with every inch decorated with gifts and decorations for your home. Shirley and Judy stayed very busy and got a good taste of retail at Christmas!  Our Christmas Tea was a great success!  Many hours of planning, decorating, and cooking always pays of with the good time the ladies and this year gentlemen have. Although all the catering and special Christmas Parties made us very tired  we enjoyed every one. We have enjoyed the time off for the holidays but my mind is already busy planning events for next year!  We will be open Jan. 8, 2010 at !0:00 a.m. with the corn muffins in the ovens the squash casserole, macaroni and cheese, and chicken broccoli casserole ready to eat along with the turnip greens and black eyed peas for thoes of you who don't get enough on New Years Day.  Looking forward to seeing you in Jan. and hope you have  a safe and blessed New Year. ...read more
