I love the center. New director has made all the difference. This is the only place in douglas county that I felt comfortable with. All of the teachers have been great. My girls love going to school. I have had my kid her for almost 5 years and would not have placed them anywhere else. Any concerns that I may have are always taken care of immedatley. ...read more

Years ago my children went here. I was there when some physical violence occurred and police were called to the academy before. I have seen kids get manhandled by teachers, but the owner is oblivious. What makes me uncomfortable is that no one seems to leave and say good things about the owner--employees or parents. I think the problem is that the center is just not run by professional administrators or long term educators. Some of the surrounding centers are lead by retired professional educators or people with advanced degrees and decades of experience in childcare. This place is just not. The owner is still learning people skills and trying her hand at being effective. I have no problem with that, but you cannot practice with my children. You only get to do this whole childhood thing once; I cannot take a chance at risking safety or sanity to help someone else make a buck. As far as other options: ANY. There are great church schools, Primrose (of course) and numerous other choices. ...read more

In the three year old room, my child came home and told me she was spanked and demonstrated what happened. I asked to view the camera footage. What a joke! It looked like my child's LeapPad camera footage, had no sound, and covered about 60% of the room. My child was taken off camera for long periods of time, forced to sit on a mat for almost TWO hours. The teacher sent home a note with a different version of what happened. I SAW her arm get yanked by the teacher, with her losing her footing TWICE! The owner said, "Uh, oh" and giggled when that happened. She told me that kids make up stuff like that and questioned if I believed my child. I sobbed uncontrollably and pulled my child out that day. A month later the owner heard that I shared my story with a church member in the local Target. She called screaming and told me that I could not prove any of this and that "I was a liar who needed to stop running my mouth". She then informed me that my child was awful and that she was calling her new school to let them know that she is bad and would probably need a behavior plan. Then she told me that this is how she puts food on her table and to keep my mouth shut. That is the problem. With a mom this is not about her making money. This is about a child. Sad woman. Sad ending. I recommend The Church at Chapel Hill and Primrose to anyone. I know Primrose costs more, but it is worth every single penny to know that you are dealing with professionals who know what they are doing. ...read more
