I used geeks to go from Alpharetta Ga. from 1998 till 2005 when one of the owners fell ill and sold the company to his brother who eventually drove the company into the ground. The original owner was the first real in home on site computer company in Georgia and it makes me ill seeing companies such as yourself use a name that was created by a hard working tech that had up to 10 technicians doing most of the Broadband installations for Bell South. I wish I could find him today just so I could invest $50,000 into his business because he stood for true computer services and a lot of the time free services if it took him 15 min or less to fix. He was a one of a kind individual that had literally every Falcon, Brave ball player in his list of clients along with some pretty big companies. I spoke with him about a half dozen times before he fell ill. It's companies such as yourself that steal names and such just so you can say this is a company that I started. a nice suprise. I brought my computer to CPU, because there pricing was the cheapest i could find calling around and i really needed my computer fixed ASAP. I brought it in on Monday, they told me it would be ready by wednesday, and tuesday afternoon they called me to let me know it was ready to pick up ! Havent had any problems with the computer since! Disaster Recovery Plan: What would you do right now if eveything you have stored on your pc files was lost? How long would it take you to get back running, How much time would be lost, What kind of money would you lose and how bad would this put you behind? Do you know what a legal back-up of your data is, is it being done properly and how often are you doing full, decramental and incremantal back ups? What kind of time have you alloted to getting your business up and running again, what kind of costs have you budgeted for if this happens? Hopefully, right now you are thinking "Wow, he has a point"! So what should you do? Great Question, First: What kind of plan do you need in place and how cost affective is it to my company? First lets concentrate on Risk Analysis, What kind of things can shut me down and how long will it take me to get back up and running? For example: Power Outage, Flooding..etc. Second Once you figure out the risks lets determine cost and Plan of action to have you back on your feet with in 24 hours( just an example). How do I reduce the cost of this and keep things running smoothly? Third should be implementing the plan and Fourth should be Testing the system.
