Night Driving Safety

Cloudy headlights. We've probably all seen another vehicle in the parking lot, or maybe one of our own, with headlights that look like they've been sitting in the desert baking for the past 100 years. While this Honda headlamp is not horrible, the cloudy lens could limit the driver's visibility by 20-40%. That translates into extended stopping time or reaction time should something veer into your path at night or during inclement weather conditions. These lamps are coated at the factory to reduce degradation due to road debris and damage from the sun. The problem is that over time this coating is worn down. Proper headlight restoration includes removing the damaged factory coating along with any physical damage to the lens. This is usually accomplished through a sanding process followed by polishing the lens to restore optical clarity. Some detailers will stop at this point because they've provided you with a shiny new look. To prevent future degradation, the lamp should then be sealed with a UV inhibitor. We choose to use a ceramic coating for the protective step. Our protection product offers 1)a harder surface than the original headlamp to resist physical abrasion, 2) UV protection that we warrant for 5 years, and finally 3) a lens that is even more clear than the final polished product. You've probably seen headlight restoration services at the local car wash, or heard of someone that used a KILLER home remedy or off the shelf solution. When you care for the safety of yourself and your passenger and fellow motorists, look for a professional to properly protect your investment! This can easily be added to any of our tailored details and typically adds an hour to your service appointment. ...read more
