I went to register my new (used) car and get a tag for it, and I prepared myself for long waits and high frustration levels. However, the Fulton Co. tag office was a very pleasant surprise. I waited a few minutes and then talked with a very pleasant lady who take care of everything with no problems at all. She even went above and beyond and looked up my tax estimates to give me an idea of what I can expect to pay next year. And the dream is still alive and working. Growing up in the sixties, in Atlanta, the King family was legendary. My grandmother owned a small furniture store, in the Sweet Auburn area, and the King family were regular customers. But in 1967, that dream was shattered. But not our hopes for a better country for all American's. Dr.King's resting place is very peaceful, as was his philosphy about life. This is one site that you can stay at all day. Association Aims to Help Businesses Win Government Contracts
Atlanta, GA. – May 18, 2010 – Government contracting has been around for more than 200 years. Yet, less than 1% of businesses in the US are actively winning government contracts. With the federal government being the largest consumer in the world, spending over $523 billion in 2009 and with a recession lingering; why are so few companies doing business with the federal government. Mr. Abraham Xiong, President of Government Contractors Association, said, "Only 181,666 companies won federal contracts last year." The latest business Census reports that there are over 31 million companies. Of these companies, 596,991 are registered in the federal database (CCR), as companies interested in pursuing contracts, with 169,633 registered as certified small businesses. Thirty-one percent (31%) of businesses who are registered and actively pursuing contracts end up winning government contracts. Government agencies are seeking for greater participation from qualified vendors but are realizing that many businesses don't fully understand the procurement process. Businesses seek to win contracts with government agencies but face challenging hurdles to navigate the rules, regulations, strategic alliances, purchasing methodologies and other obstacles. According to USASpending, a database on federal spending trends, $51 billion was available for everyone to compete, but only one bid or offer was received. This means that ten percent (10%) of contracts only received one bid. Mr. Xiong believes that there needs to be greater participation and access for businesses in the government sector. Government Contractors Association was formed to help increase awareness and support businesses by providing educational webinars, seminars, coaching groups and a social website where business owners and government staffs can interact and exchange ideas.
