In 1952 Harvey Braswell opened a small used furniture store and auction in Amarillo, Texas. A strong southern antique market encouraged Harvey to acquire his inventory from the Northeast. Progressing relationships with shippers led the Braswell family to migrate to the New York area where Harvey Braswell continued his business with the southern market. Harvey’s son, Gary Braswell entered the business buying antiques and shipping them to the south. In the mid 1980′s the southern market calmed, prompting Gary to open Braswell Galleries in Norwalk, CT.
