I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for the excellent representation in my criminal case. With your help I was able to successfully resolve my legal situation and I was able to stay home with my family. You always gave me your best and you worked very hard on my case. You were able to negotiate a charge that originally carried a minimum mandatory sentence of 15yrs down to 2yrs probation. I would recommend your services to anybody, because I am 100% sure of your ethics and your quality work. I know if I recommend you as an attorney that any client will be extremely pleased as I was. Injured in a Hit-and-Run Accident in Florida? What You Need to Know

Florida has some of the worst hit-and-run auto accident statistics in the nation. According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, one in four crashes in the state involves a hit-and run. This amounts to nearly 100,000 accidents per year, and Florida sees more hit-and-run fatalities each year than all but two other states nationwide. It is easy to feel helpless after a hit-and-run accident. When you get seriously injured or lose a loved one in a crash, you expect the at-fault driver’s insurance company pay in order to help you pick up the pieces. But, if you don’t even know which insurance company to call, what can you do so that you can start to move on? Options for Financial Recovery After a Hit-and-Run Accident As the victim of ahit-and-run accidentor a family member of someone killed by a driver who fled the scene of the collision, you have options available. These options include: 1. Report the Accident and Seek Legal Help First, and most importantly, you should report the accident to the police and seek legal help as soon as possible. State or local law enforcement officers may be able to track down the vehicle, and a private investigator working with a local law firm will be able to piece together any available evidence in order to try to identify the at-fault driver.  2. File a Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Insurance Claim Regardless of fault, if you have auto insurance, you are entitled to file a claim under the personal injury protection (PIP) portion of your auto insurance policy. Standard PIP coverage provides up to $10,000 for medical expenses and loss of income, though you will need to pay your deductible (and provide proof of loss) in order to secure coverage. 3. File an Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UIM) Insurance Claim If you are paying for uninsured/underinsured motorist (UIM) coverage, this may be the time to use it. This is fault-based coverage that is designed to step in when you are unable to secure full compensation (or any compensation) from the driver who is to blame for your losses. If you are paying extra for the right to “stack” your policy limits across multiple vehicles, you could have access to substantial compensation for your current and future financial and non-financial losses. 4. Pursue Alternate Sources of Financial Recovery Is it possible that the hit-and-run driver was not the only one responsible for the accident? Oftentimes, multiple factors will combine to cause a collision or collision-related injuries. If hazardous road conditions, avehicle defect(such as faulty brakes or a malfunctioning airbag) or any other factors even partially caused or contributed to your losses, you may be entitled to pursue a “third-party” claim for financial recovery. Leading Causes of Pedestrian Accidents in Palm Beach County

With nightlife, shopping and pristine beaches all in close proximity, West Palm Beach is a popular place for people to get around on foot. Many people who work in Palm Beach County also walk as their primary of transportation, using their lunch breaks and morning and evening commutes as opportunities to soak in the sun and ocean air. Unfortunately, while walking has proven health benefits, in areas with heavy traffic – including most areas of Palm Beach County – it also carries the risk of being injured in a pedestrian accident. Over the past few years, Palm Beach County has seen an average of almost two pedestrian accidents every single day, with roughly five percent of these accidents resulting in pedestrian fatalities. Here are the statistics, according toFlorida’s Integrated Report Exchange System (FIRES): 2014: 634 pedestrian accidents and 35 pedestrian fatalities 2015: 604 pedestrian accidents and 35 pedestrian fatalities 2016: 635 pedestrian accidents and 35 pedestrian fatalities 2017 (last updated April 26): 196 pedestrian accidents and 10 pedestrian fatalities These figures do not include bicycle accidents, of which there are also hundreds every year. Why Do Drivers Hit Pedestrians? To most of us, it seems easy enough to avoid hitting pedestrians: stay alert, stay in your lane and obey the law. Unfortunately, as the data show, many drivers make mistakes that have devastating consequences for pedestrians and their families. Some of the most common factors inpedestrian accidentsinclude: Talking, Texting and Using Social Media Behind the Wheel. Over the past several years, phone use behind the wheel has become a leading cause of all types of vehicle collisions. Other Driving Distractions. Setting music playlists, following GPS directions to the beach, eating and drinking, and a variety of other in-car distractions can all prevent drivers from seeing pedestrians. Aggressive Driving. Speeding, running red lights, trying to pass on the shoulder and other aggressive driving behaviors all put pedestrians in Palm Beach County at risk as well. Inattentive Driving. In many cases, drivers are not necessarily distracted or being aggressive, but are simply inattentive to their surroundings. Despite the fact that we have so many pedestrians in Palm Beach County, many drivers still do not think to look for pedestrians at intersections or on the side of the road. Failure to Yield. Some drivers do not understand the rules of the road. For example, many drivers mistakenly believe that if they have a green light this necessarily means that they have the right-of-way to make a right turn – and they assume pedestrians will behave accordingly. As a result, many cases involve accidents where the driver saw the pedestrian and failed to yield.
