Would you take a look at this stunning before and after!  Our restoration specialist, Paul, spent hours stripping all the wax and paint from this beautiful bronze sculpture to prepare it for an acid wash. He then mechanically and by hand cleaned the surface perfectly so he could apply the bronze and antique affect throughout the body of the sculpture. The dress is a beautiful shade of rainbow violet with a patina finish in blue. Last but most certainly not least the hair has black patina to add contrast throughout. Its All In The Detail.  Its such an honor when we received a project so large it could fill an entire hotel! Literally. We currently are working on a major project here at Forms In Sculpture for a hotel first built in the 1800s! The hotel has since been repurchased and is being restored to its natural beauty. Within the last few months we have had several astounding pieces of art come through our doors, including three wild west bronze sculptures. These sculptures all came in needing special welding work. The process that we use is called bronze welding, which is also know as brazing, but varies in technique. Bronze welding uses bronze rods by joining metals by heating up the metal below their melting point and mixing the metals together to create a strong weld. The three sculpture are all ranging from 5 inches to over a foot and a half tall! All have come from different homes and different artists, this makes these all unique in their own way. One of the sculptures needed his arm welded back on to provide the look of him opening his arms to the heavens while on horseback. The other cowboy is awaiting to be put back where he belongs… on his horse. Last but not least we made a bronco able to buck again! We had the pleasure to have our hands on a beautiful brass bell from the United States Coast Guard. We are extremely thankful that we were able to restore such a beautiful piece of history. We first diagramed and disassembled the bell, we chemically stripped, cleaned and bead blasted to be sure years of wear and tear have disappeared, we then machine buffed and polished by hand, we sealed the bell with a protective coating and reassembled all parts to make it look brand new! These bells have done everything from time keeping to being alarms on ships from the early bronze age to now. Today the Maritime Law requires all ships to have one of these efficient bells to be on every US ship. We are honored and hope to be able to work on many more in the future!
