I have customers who bring me in gold and silver all the the time that is either fake, or not the karat it is marked at. This past week I tested several 14k gold items that were only 12k or 13k. In addition a customer brought in Tiffany .925 silver that was fake. Another customer brought in several sets of what were supposed to be silver earrings taht were simply plated, not .925 silver.
