Westpointe Retirement Community

2.0

By bible guy at Citysearch

I have a family member living at this retirement community. This facility is not bad, BUT, it COULD be improved upon. There needs to be MORE staff, I believe, especially during the evening AND that evening staff NEEDS to be seen - - by residents AND by the residents' family members when they are there in the evenings. Another words, the evening staff doesn't need to 'hide' in one room - - they need to be walking around checking to make sure the residents are ok and don't need anything, etc. This facility has too many exotic birds. These birds COULD carry diseases that may be transmitted to the residents. The birds ARE popular with some residents, though. However, I am thinking ONLY of the residents' safety. There is one exotic bird that is by the dining room/kitchen and I believe that is VERY unsanitary. IF they are going to have a bird like that, it needs to be moved AWAY from the dining room/kitchen. We have found two roaches crawling on this birdcage - - - which is EVEN MORE unsanitary in our opinion. Roaches carry diseases and the residents certainly do NOT need to catch ANY disease by these roaches. The meals are skimpy. "Watered-down" soup is served to the residents EVERY supper. Most residents refuse to even eat this. The residents SHOULD be allowed to choose what they want to eat for their three meals - - NOT told they are eating a certain kind of food. If a resident doesn't like a certain food, they SHOULD be allowed to choose something else from a Menu. ...read more

TLC recently attempted to charge my credit card for services rendered last January that I had paid for with check on the day they performed the service. One of TLC’s office employees called one evening asking me about my credit card account because she was having difficulty making charges to my account. Luckily, I discontinued all my credit cards, or she would have incorrectly defrauded me of money I had already paid to TLC. The next day I called the TLC’s office manager, who not continued to insist I owed TLC money, which was false, but lied that I had threatened the employee who called me the night before. Comically, as the office manger was insisting I owed TLC money, I was looking at the returned check that TLC cashed for the day of service she falsely said I neglected to pay. Buyers beware; if you hire TLC, keep your receipts and cancelled checks. Come the end of the year, TLC might very well attempt to charge you twice. ...read more

Hurricane Season!

While potentially devestating to a community, hurricane season offers the local business ample opportunity to support the community.  No one escapes a hurricane unaffected.  Time, money, convenience...everyone is affected in some way.  Businesses can help the community prepare in any number of ways.  Anyone with foot traffic in their business can become a host location for free tracking charts and written information.  Employers can use the employee newsletter to filter information and helpful PRE-planning information to their workforce.  Those who mail invoices to customers can add a reminder of useful information to the monthly envelope. Perhaps one of the most elementary practices is the most fruitful.  Check on your elderly or disabled neighbor before a storm approaches.  Encourage them to prepare BEFORE the event.  Is there a single parent in your neighborhood? Maybe they could use a little extra assistance or support prior to a storm.  It may be the difference between a successful season for NW Florida or another Katrina like abandonment of fellow citizens. If you or someone you love needs special assistance  and you don't know where to get it, feel free to contact TLC Caregivers.  We have an extensive list of service providers in the area. ...read more
