Was my attorney and he speaks to you with complete disrespect and is very vague when giving advice on your case. He also went a month without returning my phone calls with questions I had about my case. His staff is also very rude and unprofessional too. You would be better off going to court on your own because all this man cares about is settlements and then you are nothing to him. Please take my advice and stay away from this man. ...read more

Traditional Notary Public or "Independant Notary Public" ?

The private Notary Public  or "Independent Notary Public" as I like to refer to them have been around for a long time now. The "private independent notary" is that notary that does not work for an institution like a bank or in a law office working for a lawyer.      Traditionally notaries employed by institutions like banks or under the umbrella of an attorney's office have rendered notarial services as a form of collateral or support services. In the case of banks, bank notaries have assisted their customers by facilitating personal and business transactions by notarizing documents for free or for nominal fees. Important to note that bank notaries derive salaries or wages from the employing bank.      In the case of notaries that work for a private attorneys, these notaries frequently notarize documents for the clients of their employer attorney, here the notary provides a collateral service that facilitates the attorneys law practice and simultaneously makes it possible or easier for the attorney's client to have his signature notarized without having to seek the services elsewhere, hence providing "one stop service" for the client. Notaries that work for attorneys, like their bank counterparts are financially compensated by the employing attorney.      In contrast the modern "Independent Notary Public" usually works out of his own private office at a retail location or many of these notaries operate what are "mobile notary services" where the notary will travel to a home, a business or even hospitals where clients may need notarial services rendered. The "Independent Notary Public" generally works for himself and usually by himself, and without the supervision of either the banking institution or of the private attorney.  The "Independant Notary", unlike the the two types of notaries mentioned prior, receives no salary or wages from an employer.       These "Independant Notaries", many times in order to be able to continue to make their independent notaries services available frequently must sell or provide other services like typing legal document forms, faxing , copying documents, tax preparation and even finger printing and passport photos. All these services are rendered with the goal of generating additional revenues that help support and maintain the "Independant Notary's" business or practice. Hence insuring that "Independant Notaries" will be able to exist and be available to provide notarial services to private clients that can't access banking institutions or are not under the services of an attorney. It is for this reason that " Independant Notaries" must charge for thier services, sometimes at rates that retail customers find expensive or "high priced" and thus objectionable.        In conclusion I exhort future customers seeking retail notary services from "Independant Notaries" to keep in mind the circumstances and differences between the bank notary, the law office notary and the private " Independant Notary Public", and to understand why private independent notary fees are what they are.
