I live in the neighborhood behind Oakes Farms and they are hands down the worst neighbors ever! It took a Facebook campaign and many complaints to code enforcement to get them to have their dumpsters emptied more than 3 times a week - and they have a FISH MARKET! You can't imagine the stench. Once they started getting their dumsters emptied more than 3 times a week, our problem with vultures and rats is not as bad. Talk about an unsanitary business! Yuk! The latest problem is the noise. They've had a generator up against my neighbor's yard for at least 6 months. It was running 24/7, now it goes on and off every 20 minutes or so. Can you imagine the noise? Alphie told me personally (in writing too) that he would move the generator truck on March 19. It's now May 11. Yet another ongoing problem is the trucks. Oakes Farms trucks and all their vendor trucks cut through our family neighborhood, block the street and turn around in the neighborhood. One of the trucks knocked down the NO TRUCKS sign! This has been going on for years. With the expansion, the Oakes brothers did nothing to address this problem. These people have no empathy or thought for others. I can't imagine how they live with themselves. And don't be fooled - only 3.3% of their food is organic, according to the Oakes Farms website. I can tell you by the huge semis in my neighborhood all day long that their products come from the same places as the other large grocery stores. ...read more
