C O.04/07/2014 When my daughter was 6 months old, I went to check out Sunny Start Pre-School. I immediately knew this was the place for her when I was greeted by the infant teacher with a big smile. All the children in the school looked happy and all the classrooms were EXCEPTIONALLY clean and cared for. Four years later, my little girl is about to start VPK at this amazing school. I am heartbroken because she only has one year left here. In this bilingual environment, my daughter learned to sing the ABCs by the time she was 14 months old. She learned her colors and shapes before she was 2. Around 22 months, the teachers were fully invested in helping me get her potty-trained. And around 3 years old, my little girl was learning to write the letters of her name. This school definitely deserves the title "preschool" versus daycare. The teachers and director, Jennifer, make it each moment the students are with them valuable. Students not only excel in academic endeavors, but they are taught respect, good manners, and how to solve conflicts between each other. I went to buy a course and I was not satisfied with the course there so many mistakes in the books and no one in that company even speaks English! I went to pay and everyone only speaks Spanish! Before sign this contract for the 6-months course noticed the following:1. You only have 3 days to cancel the contract (little letters)2. The loan for $1128 (cost of the course, approximately) has a financial fee that is more than an outrageous 17% ($199)3. After the three days you can recover the paid amount at most (bold letter Notice), but you would have a hard time to recover that money, making it impossible.4. The Audiovisual Language (vendor) and West Finance (financial company) are the same and are located at 201 SW 27 Ave, Miami, FL 33135. However, the employees of the school use to mislead you about this.5. They do not allow you to return the CDs, books, and other materials in order to not give you the ground for the recovering of the money according the contract.6. Its been 1 1/2 years since my boys started Kumon. I started them with reading and then after six months decided to add the math to their schedule. It is amazing to see how Kumon has helped them at school. When it comes to reading and math, they rarely have to study for a test, they are so much more far advanced than their class. Boys in my 8 year old's class are struggling with multiplication and my son is already starting division. Enough said about Kumon, I need to mention that the owner and director of Kumon of So. Miami needs a mention in this review. When my oldest boy went through a face and started telling me he didn't want to do math anymore because he didn't need it, I mentioned it to Mrs. Chamizo, she suggested a conference between the three of us. After speaking with her, not only did he not quit, he took on more pages in math. He was doing 5 pages a day and left with ten. He had already achieved advanced honors in reading and also wanted to achieve this in math. She has the ability to bring the best out of your child and I'm grateful to have met her and that my children are part of Kumon of So. Miami. As long as we're able, they will attend Kumon, I foresee them doing this while in college as well. I can go on and on talking about how wonderful they are, but even the teachers at school know which of the children in her class go to Kumon, these children feel great about themselves and proud that they are looked up to by their class. I had enrolled my girls at another Kumon Center for almost 2 years, and transferred them to this center last year. This is an incredible place! Not only do your children learn to excel on their own; but it has the best Kumon team I have ever seen. Mrs. Elisa Chamizo is amazing with my girls.
