Good for you " BAD enviroment for any child!!" As us parents have a right to know who our children are around and if they are fit people to work with our kids. I found your review while looking for a suitable school for our child. THANK YOU FOR YOUR POST~ \t\n\t\nDo not listen to what the other person said as any grown adult should not be in the wrong place at the wrong time. That's the EXACT kind of people we want our kids to avoid both with their peers and ADULTS. ...read more

Nadine,\t\n\t\nMy son has been in class with your son for the past several years. Wendy mentioned that you had written a terrible review, but I could not believe it until I read it. You decided to leave the school after your son had been enrolled for four years. If it was so terrible, why did you stay for four years?\t\n\t\nI agree that the past year has been difficult for Hand in Hand Academy. But my son has been in this program and will remain in this program because the educational quality and the amazing teachers and administration have never waivered from providing the best school environment and opportunities in the area.\t\n\t\nWendy was in the wrong place at the wrong time and the ridiculous charge lasted a few days and was immediately dropped. She has never been in any trouble with the law and you know as well as I do that she works 12 or more hours a day at the school to deliver the programs that have provided amazing services to perhaps thousands of children over the past decade.\t\n\t\nThe scores at Hand in Hand Academy have been the best in the County for years, largely due to the individualized programs offered. I know from working in the classroom that your son may have been behind because his homework folder with classroom support materials was NEVER completed and often not touched. \t\n\t\nThe County approved only seven new Charter Schools for the 2011-2012 school year. Alexander Academy of Lutz was approved because it was based on the programs and curriculum that our children have been involved in for the past many years. The majority of the children attending, including my child, are grade levels ahead of where they would be elsewhere due to the advanced opportunities. \t\n\t\nFrom what I understand Wendy had to remove herself from the Charter application because she owns the property that the Charter will likely use for its location when they open. There would be a conflict if she remained part of the organization unless she did not own the building. Truthfully, I wish that she did not own it because many of us did not know that she would not be the Director/Principal when it opened. Hopefully they will find someone with the same vision to lead this Charter School the way that she would have.\t\n\t\nThe other item that you mentioned was the foreclosure.......... there is no foreclosure. Hand in Hand Academy owns multiple properties and they wanted to use equity in one property to assist with the other. The bank would not willingly assist with this. Legal council encouraged her to push a reorganization through the court...... which is exactly what happened. It was resolved and nothing was ever in foreclosure as you stated.\t\n\t\nI encourage readers to call the school and speak to parents who have had their children at the school. Families who have had their children enrolled for one year, or many, are happy. The school has had waitlists for many years. There is obviously a reason for this.\t\n\t\nIt is a shame when 1 or 2 disgruntled parents decide to go online and vent. Unfortunately these are usually the parents that do. You can not please everyone. The squeeky wheel is always the one that we hear. For a school that services nearly 200 students a year..... 1 or 2 is a pretty good track record. I encourage all those who have had children at this school to take the time to post the wonderful opportunities that were provided to their children. Nadine......... best of luck with your future options for your son. Why would you have not published your name with this posting?\t\n\t\nOh....... one more thing........ about the playground safety.........maybe it is because the playground certifier you were referring to was your husband......... Hand in Hand has passed ALL health and playground safety inspections. I know your husband needs the work......... but really? ...read more
