Quality Poor The staff has a really bad attitude and extremely unprofessional. If you go here don't be surprised to see extra charges being billed directly to you regardless what they say when you're paying your co-pay. Never received phone calls back regarding any billing errors and when I did get a hold of someone in person extremely the staff was extremely rude. As far as the doctors go they are a glorified referral service. I have seven referrals and two visits all of which my previous doctor treated. The doctors at the surgery are very helpful once you get to see them. However the office staff and rude, inefficient and unhelpful. They are unable to find files, unable to schedule appointments. etc. We have just changed to another practice. The last straw was yesterday when I had an appointment at 2:30 pm. I arrived at 2:10 pm and was asked to complete an application form (although I had already visited the surgery several times). I completed the form and because I am disabled my wife (who did not have an appointment) handed it in explaining it was for me. We waited and at 3 pm it was obvious that something was wrong. My wife went up to the desk and asked when I would be seen. They asked her to complete an application form. She stated that I already had and was not about to fill out another one. We then asked to see the office manager. After about 10 minutes nobody appeared and so we left. This is just one of the incidents of what happened at this surgery and we have spoken to other people who were patients who have had similar experiences and have changed to another physician. I have had alot of blood work done over the last few months. Because of reasons beyond my control i have lost my insurance. I called a few of my regular labs and even being a prior patient for years gave me no senority they were ready to charge me hundreds of dollars for test I have had done for years this didnt make me feel very good as you can imagine so I called around. I write this review with some reservations, but I feel I need to share my overall experience with those of you who are considering using Magruder Eye Institute for their eye care. My overall experience was average at best. When I first went in for my exam, I thought the technician who did the preliminary check was the Doctor. Although he did not introduce himself, he was personable and professional. Shortly after that, I was called by the Doctor. When she came out, she called me by my name but never once introduced herself to me as my Doctor. She was professional but little else. I sat through the exam feeling as just another customer. Several weeks later I decided to return to purchase a pair of glasses. The optical technician was friendly and professional. Since I needed glasses right away she said that she would put a rush on them. I received them almost two weeks later. I was told that this happened because the lab sent my glasses back the first time in an incomplete state. ...read more
