By Anonymous

After spending half of my career in the mortgage industry here in Jacksonville, I woke up one morning only to find that I was downsized. I was introduced to Dr. Gaines through someone else who had great success working with him. Well, great success is an understatement! Through the tears, the fear, and the uncertainly of have to reenter the job market at age fifty, he gave me the courage and helped me regain my self-worth and I am happy to report that within thirty days of being laid off I was offered an amazing position...Thank you Spencer ...read more

Six Things Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers Don’t Want You to Know

Upon entering a drug or alcohol rehab center, patients learn about the necessary steps they will need to take in order to overcome their problem with substance abuse or addiction.  Once admitted, however, many providers choose to conceal certain information from their patients.  Below are the top seven things drug and alcohol rehab centers don't want you to know.  1. Their Success Rate– Andrug and alcohol rehab centerwill typically hesitate to talk about their past success rates in treating patients struggling from drug or alcohol abuse and addiction.  The reason srug and alcohol rehab centers often neglect this information is because the success rate of a patient in treatment often lies in their own involvement, attitude and efforts, and not necessarily the specific treatment methods administered to the patient.  2.  Details about the Facility and Rooms– Although a top-notch drug andalcohol rehabfacility may disclose information pertaining to the appearance of their facility, many choose not to describe the look of their facility in detail.  3. The Length of a Patient's Stay –Every patient in a drug and alcohol rehab facility is different, with their own set of circumstances and treatment requirements.   As a result, there is rarely a universal length of stay in a drug and alcohol rehab center.  However, a drug and alcohol rehab facility may require a patient to remain in treatment for a set length of 30 days, 45 days, 60 days or some other fixed period.  4.  The Cost of Treatment– Considering the many variables that affect the cost of treatment, including insurance, length of stay and other criteria, drug and alcohol rehab centers will rarely disclose a set price for their services prior to admission. You can however negotiate a "cash" price for a specific number of days.  5. Information about the Food– The quality of the food served in a drug and alcoholrehab centervaries from facility to facility and treatment providers rarely disclose nutritional information and "special" meal accommodation about their food.  6.  "There is No Cure for Alcoholism or Drug Addiction"– Patients enrolled in a drug and alcohol rehab facility learn how to live with their addiction to alcohol or drugs.  Since there is no cure for alcoholism or drug addiction, treatment providers often hesitate to discuss this theory with patients as not to sound discouraging. ...read more

Pastoral Counseling is a component in Florida Christian Rehab

There is a lot of talk today about holistic treatment. We practice Holistic Treatment at our Florida Christian rehab.Pastoral Counselingcertainly compliments holistic medicine in its awareness of the spiritual dimension in human wholeness. Holistic simply means treating all parts (the whole) of a person. When treating the disease of addiction, professionals have known for years that the disease is one of the body, mind and spirit. People have been taking their problems to the clergy for years and sought spiritually – based solutions. People who suffer from emotional and mental illness have been able to find some relief through the spiritual counseling; but in severe cases specialized care with a professional was necessary. We have found a perfect marriage of professional and Pastoral Counseling in treating our patients. When Minister Norman Peal became partners with psychiatrist Smiley Blanton and formed The American Foundation of Religion and Psychiatry they started which have become (70 years later) pastoral psychotherapy; integrating behavioral sciences and theology. Studies concerning faith and mental health issues proved effective when patients in Mental Health Hospitals responded favorably while working with theology students. You can see the use of Pastoral Counseling in our Florida Christian Rehab comes from sound scientific principles and has survived the test of time. Our facility offers choices not found in otherdrug rehabs. Pastoral Counselors are non-sectarian and are certified by The American Association of Pastoral Counselors. The staff at our Florida Christian Rehab will make every attempt to provide our patient with a Pastoral Counselor of his or her own denomination. If you are consideringaddiction treatmentfor yourself or someone you love, look around and see if other facilities stand up to the quality care we offer each patient entering our treatment program. ...read more

No More Quick Fix, It is Time for a Transformation!

There are very few words in the English language that are more enjoyable than "Quick Fix". By sheer syntax it tells you two things: that it won't take much time and that it will repair whatever is broken. Yes! But you have to be aware that when dealing with our spiritual life, we have to stop settling for the quick fix and move into the transformation. It is not enough just to enter adetox programwhere you rid your body of the physical drug but not treat the underlying effects of the addiction. You are just setting yourself up for failure. The Bible tells us that when we decide to follow the will of God, there is more to it. No matter how deep into your addiction, God has the power to transform your life. With our combination of spiritual counseling, and practical treatment, A New Life at Lakeview Health Systems wants to help you move from your current state into your new existence. ...read more
