This was the most disapointing Visit to the Fort Myers area ever the rv resort was the most hazardous public area that I have ever visited the Electricity issues were a joke to say the least. we were with out electricity for 10 straight days for the biggest part of the day time period. when the power was restored it would only be on for a few minutes then go back off when the service people would work on the issues they unlocked the large power cabinet and left it open for 10 days this was very unsafe because there were children present in the park visiting other people but all we got from management was if yuo dont like it leave. it took months to get revservations in the first place then we were lied to about some things avail. there but were not .. to discuss this further let me know who to call ...read more

In the world of storm protection, you have many different products and those products may look the same but if you ask the right question coupled with the right knowledge you can distinguish the differences between those products and consequently companies that sell them. First, you should know there are 2 different classifications in storm protection. There is the Florida Building Code rating (130 mph) , and then there is the Dade county rating. The Florida building code became law in 2001, and was established to set a minimum guideline for storm protection as well as the general construction of all new homes moving forward. Dade county already had a municipal requirement 10 years prior to the implementation of the FBC due to the damage Hurricane Andrew inflicted on the area. With a 10 year headstart, Dade County has a standard that is higher than the state law, and many insurance companies use this standard as a benchmark for obtaining insurance (especially near the coastlines) and discounts . As with any standard, every 2 years the FBC is updated, revised, altered, and subsequently, standards are always being upgraded and products are constantly having to be retested in order to comply with these ever changing requirements. Dade county approved products are the end of the line when it comes to meeting these requirements as there is no measure currently above Category 5 (150 mph), it is unlikely you will ever have a compliance issue if you choose products that meet this rating. Of course, products with the Dade rating will always cost more due to the extra materials and superior performance they give, but they are also a higher quality and will last far longer than their FBC counter parts. Also to note: Insurance companies are privately owned entities and not subject to follow the state standard by any means. They can at will impose the higher standard on a homeowner or drop them for having a lower standard shutter. This is already happening on upper end homes on barrier islands, and rest assured, it is only a matter or time before it trickles into the rest of the Florida housing markets, so if you are in the market for shutters, Please give Stormtech Shutters a call.
