What Happens When You Skip Bail?

When you have been bailed out of jail and you skip your court date it is a serious matter. If you miss your court date the judge will give the Bail Bond Agency several days to get in contact with you and get everything straightened out. When you show up to your next court date, you will probably face a penalty which usually is a fine. In some cases if you skip your court date your bail bonds is usually forfeited, and a “bench warrant” will be issued for your arrest. A Bail Bond Fugitive Agent also known as a Bounty Hunter will be assigned to find you to insure you show up to your next court date. Usually when you get bailed out of jail you get bailed out by family or friends; but it is your responsibility to make your court date. Know How to Bail Someone Out of Jail

At one point or another you may need to bail someone out of jail. What if you never have bailed anyone out of jail, and do not know how or where to start? This is the basic process of bailing someone out of jail. When you get the phone call someone needs your help getting out of jail, you should first call someone at the jail in booking. You need to do this because you need to find out if the bail is a cash bond only or if you can go through a bondsman. If it is not a cash bond only you should contact a bail bonds agency. A bail bonds agency is going ask you a lot of questions about your relationship to the person in jail. They will do this because they want to make certain that the person that is in jail will make their court appearance when the time comes. You should inform the bondsman of or relationship and let them know how long the person has been in jail. Next, you need to arrange with the bondsman to pay at least 10% of the bond which is the standard rate for most bail bonds. After the paperwork is prepared and if you are approved the person will be released into your care. As the person who took out the bail you are now responsible for making sure the person shows up to their court date. If the defendant misses their court date the court will keep the bond and issue a warrant for the arrest of the defendant. Just remember you are responsible for the defendant and their bail, make sure your willing to do this.
