Creative Structures of South West Florida

Michael Snoeck is not licensed to do construction and home cabinetry in the state of Fl yet he states that he is. He states that he owns this company, yet the corporation was dissolved in 2009. He requested and received over $10,000 from us for custom cabinets in May 2013. He has still not delivered/installed these cabinets. He says that he has everything but keeps making excuses as to why he can not come out. His only mode of communication is a text about once every 3 weeks. We believe that Michael is a talented craftsman but he is not doing the job he is possible of doing at this time for some reason. We do not recommend hiring this person and if you do, do not give him any money until you see the goods and then just pay him as he installs your product and be prepared to wait and wait and wait and to hear every excuse possible about why he can not do the job. Hire a licensed contractor. ...read more

Selecting the Right Contractor
When choosing a contractor weather for a residential or commercial project, it is important to vet the companies you are accepting proposals from. While the range and scope of a contractor is broad encompassing all aspects of construction not all companies can fulfill your particular needs, it is important to consider some key points about your particular needs. Some important questions you need to ask are, Is this within the scope of work the company performs or provides? Is this contractor affiliated with an association such as the BBB that rates their members and holds them to operate with a much higher standard with their customers. How long have they been in business? Are they licensed? A licensed contractor has to be insured and thus, will always cost more than an unlicensed person who doesn't carry insurance and is not licensed, 2 costs that immediately protect you the homeowner from faulty work and give you recourse holding the licensed contractor responsible for all the work he does, clearly making him the right choice to protect you, the homeowner. In most jurisdictions, it is against the law to hire any unlicensed workers, even if you choose to obtain your own permit. The main reason for this is the unlicensed person is not regulated, and the local jurisdiction cannot regulate this/these people making sure they are carrying insurance in case they are hurt on the homeowner's property.Chances are, the unlicensed will do improper work, and chances are your will never see him again to fix the faulty work, which is a major reason why States regulate this profession, and it is a "Profession".There are many other reasons to stay away from unlicensed contractors, and you can find them at DBPR Florida's website. Is the Licensed Contractor knowledgable, helpful and prompt in all matters concerning your project? Do they take interest in your problem. Do they make suggestions or alternate recommendations that can cut cost and provide similar or superior end results? Especially for those people with multi floor structures, if you hire unlicensed people to do work which later affects adjoining floors or neighbors, you may be responsible for the costs of the damage and if you hired an unlicensed contractor.
