With the amount of credit card fraud that takes place on a daily basis, a simple ID check by merchants can help prevent credit card fraud. One local television station did an undercover story and found that four out of five stores did not ask a female customer for any ID when using a credit card with the name of Steve on it. One credit card reader asked for a zip code and the news reporter asked a few people in line for a local zip code to use. The clerk just smiled as the reporter entered several zip codes in until she found one that worked. TIP: During this holiday season make sure that you have a copy of all of your important credit cards and documents that you keep in your wallet or purse on file at home.
