Norman Broudy MD & Associates

1.0

By Abarton

What you'll see on other reviews about inflexible scheduling and fees for being late or missing an appointment is true, although not unheard of. I would like to add that while they expect YOU to be prompt, my appointments never started less than 5 minutes late, and I was always out the door 45-50 minutes later. I never once had a full hour long appointment, although that is what I was billed for, and paid for. As for treatment, I was told that there was nothing really wrong with me, despite my insistence to the contrary. After several ineffective [short] sessions focusing on shallow issues, I stopped patronizing Broudy and Associates. A few months later, I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder by a competent physician. I had tried to head the depression off at the onset, but too bad for me I choose this practice. Their billing also seems very disorganized. I got a bill 10 months after my initial appointment for a paltry sum, with a nasty gram that it was my final notice and I was to be turned over to collections. Um, I never got an initial - or follow up - notice! (Although I did receive an invitation to an open house for the practice's new location, so I know they had my correct address.) The one good thing I will say is that the office is clean and comfortable and that the staff (billing, reception, etc.) are very nice and courteous. Unfortunately, a nice office and kind staff aren't the best reasons to choose a therapist. If I could do it over again, I would absolutely choose another practice. ...read more

Winter and colds

Winter has finally hit and cough and cold season is upon us. The most common cause of cough and cold is viral. Unfortunately there is no medicine to treat a virus. These colds have to run their course. They can last 7-10. Children can have up to 10-14 colds a year and be sick up to 140 days a year. The best treatment for cold symptoms is the humidifier and nasal saline. Over the counter cold medicines are fine if your child is over 6 yrs old. Cold medicines have never been shown to work in the younger ages and are not recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Fevers are a common component of the colds. Fevers are generally not dangerous and are one way the body fights off infections. Fevers of over 106 can be dangerous and you should call your doctor if it gets over that. When to come in can be tricky sometimes you come in too soon and then you have to come in again. My opinion if you are concerned feel free to make and appointment that way we know what we are treating. Certainly if you child is not improving by 5-7 days, appears ill, has ear pain, has increased work of breathing, you should call your pediatrician. Feel free to call with questions ...read more

A little about us

Hi,        Thanks for reading about us.   Dr Darren Franczyk has been in private practice over ten years.  He trained at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine and at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.  He is board certified in Pediatrics.   Dr Franczyk started at Pediatric Associates in Delaware County, PA and then went to Total Care Physcians, in Delaware.  Althought these were good experiences, he found that the continuity of care for his patients wasn't always the best in a group practice.  Dr Franczyk decided to open his own practice at 2006 Foulk Rd, Suite C, Wilmington De, 19810 in June of 2006.  The practice offers individual care by the same doctor.  The office is open five days a week, and there are night hours available Monday and Thursday evenings.  Although Dr Franczyk is a solo practicioner, he does have coverage in the event he is away or ill.   The covering doctors are within 3 miles.  Dr Francyk is currently on staff at Christiana Hospital,  St Francis Hospital and AI Dupont Children's Hospital.  He is happy to offer complimentary prenatal visits, so you can meet him, view the office and ask questions about your children.  He will visit you daily at Christiana or St. Francis once your baby is born.   If you have any questions about the practice or would like to schedule a visit to meet Dr Franczyk please call us at 302-529-1735. ...read more
