As a first time homeowner and knowing an On Deck employee I thought I could trust them in getting a fair loan. It didn't work out well. My first red flag was getting a GFE from a competitor at a much more discounted price to which On Deck matched the following day with the response "the rate dropped heavily last night (from 6.75 to 6.375!)" ..(Yeah Right)On Deck mortgage rarely contacted me other than to say my loan would be fine at 6.375. Out of the blue 5 days before closing they needed a slew of financial requests causing missed work time. (Maybe they should have prepared me?) Then after assuring me they had the rates locked at 6.375 the day of the closing they stated they "thought" I wanted the floating rate which was .375 higher ($50 a month). I had emails confirming otherwise, but my lawyer indicated there were ways around this legally and added they made $7700 from the loan!! Buyer Beware--- I do not recommend this company. ...read more
