Station Place Cafe

Terrible experience today at Station Place Café! We pulled off the road for lunch with 4 adults and 7 children and must have overwhelmed the owner (though seating was more than sufficient for this size group) because the first offense came when we ordered a bagel with butter and cream cheese and was told, "nothing complicated". Really?!?! It only got worse from there... The owner made several disparaging remarks to us and about us to other customers. After waiting 15 minutes for MOST of the bagels (1 topping only!), the kids were served but finished eating long before the adults were served their pre-made tarts, soup and packaged salad. When the last bagel was brought out- cream cheese only- it was missing the cream cheese and had butter on it. When we corrected the waitress, the owner chimed in with, "just put the cream cheese over the butter, they won't know the difference". What?? Now I'm pretty frank about my children's behavior and will admit when they are not at their best. However, this group of 7 kids remained in their seats, played word games at the table and kept their voices to reasonable levels. That did not stop the owner from telling us that if we were going to come in with such a large group, then the children should at least behave themselves! My girls were horrified at how she spoke about them and were confused and ashamed by her comments. We confronted her at the end of the meal and was met with yet more rudeness. No apologies, she continued to blame us for coming to her restaurant with some many people. Must be doing very well if she's able to turn away a single seating of 11 people. ...read more

Origins

What began our business model based on the discussions of three Yale Forestry graduates who felt there needed to be a more holistic approach to land use planning that addressed the functions of ecological communities led to the founding of EECOS, Inc. We joined our forces and talents in the fields of wildlife, energy, forestry, ecology, botany, and hydrology to work with landowners or developers who wanted to know first what environmental assets their land posessed and then how best to utilize and maintain these assets sustainably. We began in 1988 and have worked on public and private land protection deals and with developers alike to come up with innovative ways to protect as much land as we can for working farm and forestry enterprises. The importance of land trusts in holding conservation easements has led to another specialisation which we conduct for documenting conservation value and natural conditions at the time that easements are conveyed on privately owned land. Today we are two partners, Anthony Irving, MES and Star Childs, MFS, who are located in both southeastern and northwestern Connecticut always at the ready to answer our clients most pressing land use and working land protection questions.
