Pool Leagues at Towne Billiards, Hamden, CT

Joining a pool league may seem like a daunting prospect, but you'll never know how much fun it is until you try it.  Towne Billiards runs its own in house pool league that is ideal for all skill levels and all ages.  Leagues form several times a year, so you can join whenever the mood strikes you. The purpose of the league is to introduce organized league play to the public and to provide a competitive and enjoyable experience in the sport of pocket billiards.  Our league is an amateur league.  While the level of competition can be keen, there is plenty of room for players who want to improve their game and have a good time doing so.  Our handicapping system creates a fair environment for balanced play and allows for all skill levels to compete with each other. A pool league is a great way to learn the basics of the game of pocket billiards.  If you already have a rudimentary knowledge, it's a wonderful way to improve and learn more advanced skills.  Usually, one of the best parts of joining a league is the new friends you make.  The other people in the league already share one of your interests, who knows what other interests you may have in common. We have a MySpace site devoted to the league, with pictures, schedules and information.  Please visit www.myspace.com/townebilliardsleagues. So, as you're contemplating what to do with your Wednesday nights, think about joining our pool league, we'd love to have you! ...read more

Towne Billiards to Host 8-Ball for Hole in the Wall Charity Tournament

On Sunday, October 16th  at 5:00pm Tournament Night at Towne (TNT) is holding its second annual charity tournament at Towne Billiards, 17 Marne Street, Hamden. Last year’s event was to benefit Domestic Violence Services of Greater New Haven. This year’s beneficiary will be The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, CT.   The recipient of this year’s TNT Charity Event was chosen because 2011 marks the 50th anniversary of the classic film “The Hustler” starring Paul Newman. Mr. Newman founded The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in 1988 to provide a free of charge camp experience for children with serious and chronic illnesses.   The 8-Ball Tournament is a single elimination, handicapped event organized and directed by Greg Mouning. There will be a cash payout to the first place winner with the proceeds to support The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. Other activities will include a silent auction, Felson Challenge Matches, baked goods sale, swing dance demonstration and screening of the movie “The Hustler”.   Also, just added, Tom "Dr. Cue" Rossman, WPA World Artistic Pool Champion, ESPN and World Masters Trick Shot Champion, North American Professional Trick&Fancy Shot Champion will be giving show sometime after 4:00PM to kick off the event and then he will perform a longer exhibition with short clinic during the tournament.   If you don’t wish to participate in the tournament, please come anyway to cheer on the players and enjoy the other festivities and to support this worthy cause.   For additional details and directions, please contact Towne Billiards at 203.281.7665 or Greg Mouning at tntcharities@gmail.com.
