Fontenot's really surpassed my expectation for the night. All employees were very friendly and the atmosphere was great. I was really impressed with all features of this restaurant. The food was fresh and tasted excellent. I had the Rajun Cajun shrimp and loved it. My girl friend had the catfish and was just as good. My first experience at Fontenot's was years ago and I have been coming back every year since! Their new place is like being in New Orleans. Last year I was able to go twice and tried their lunch on the deck during my visit over the summer, I had their fried green tomato po'boy and a cup of gumbo. I always get the gumbo at dinner but the po'boy is a new favorite. I have been coming here for years and never had a bad meal and always round it out with their bread pudding! I was impressed with the quality here. Shrimp cocktail was fresh, caesar salad was cold, crisp, and light on the dressing, probably the best I've had. My steak & fries was a bit disappointing though, filet butterflied and pounded out with a rich cream sauce didn't quite satisfy my want for a good steak, but to my waitress' credit she did offer to not butterfly it, and there was a beurre blanc option, so I could try that steak again and have a much different meal. ...read more
