FANTASTIC SERVICE We called this evening for service after returning home to find our furnace was out. We expected to pay an "arm and a leg" for the call and wait hours for them to arrive. To our surprise, the technician called us right away and was out within the hour. He quickly found that it needed cleaning. He quoted us a price before starting the work, performed the work and had the furnace running within the hour. My brother has been using United mechanical for years. He suggested we call them and we are gald we did. We have serveral rental properties in the area and have used many differant companies over the years. The best company. Ever. We used them for plumbing work. I called three Denver plumbing companies to get a quote on replacing the pipes in my 100 year old row home after the old galvy pipes rusted through. Cesar came in at about $1000 less than the other guys. When they wrote up the estimate, it wasn't just some crappy form they filled out. They actually wrote me a one page letter and explained exactly what they would do and what materials they would use. It was very thoughtful and detailed--it even included basic things like, "we will put down a drop cloth." This was helpful because it made it clear what I could expect. It also helped me when dealing with my insurance company who helped cover the demolition and wall-replacement costs. Romel came out to see my house first. He was on time, professional, and a stand up guy. On July 31st, 2011 our air conditioner stopped working. We called united mechanical to diagnose the problem. They found a bad coil and had no freon and of course under Murphy`s Law it was on a weekend with no parts available. My wife and I are both handicapped and facing the weekend with no air conditioner in July is a stressful thought. We did not complain or ask for any special favors. The grace of god stepped in because united mechanical is owned by great people. In 56 years dealing with repair heating and air companies I have never seen a company do what they did. Over and above, they returned the next day early August 1st and installed a window unit so my wife and I could be reasonably comfortable at no extra cost. We did not request it! I have been, in the past, a big fan of Poppies good food and warm atmostphere. I had breakfast here recently (a first for me) and it was NOT good. The waiter's plaid boxers were clearly out on display, proudly, above his pant's waistband, his black apron was filthy (we were his first customers) and he was fumbling along the whole meal. (He was, however, very nice). The eggs on each plate were either not cooked or over cooked and, when asking for a replacement for the hard cooked poached eggs came back runny and inedible (cooks fault but he never should have served it). The table felt sticky, the carpet, in the process of being replaced, left a scored concrete floor visible, the bathroom smelled of overused sanitizer and the whole place looked like it needed some TLC. While having a meal at Poppies recently, we spotted what appeared to possibly be a ROACH crawling on the back our booth. When we contacted the manager, he smirked and said that he would not mind if a bug was on his booth and acted like he had been interupted from some other activity. His entire demeanor and attitude was appalling and something we could not believe. To add to the horror of this meal, the airconditioning was not working and to this the manager said - oh it just went off a little bit ago. The restaurant was hot, no fans were brought out and the temperature was hotter inside than out. Good food. Senior citizen clientel but , surprisingly, not handicap friendlly. No room for wheelchiars. Only 1 handicap spot for parking and not ramps up onto the sidewalk.
