Agate is a minor community located in Elbert County, Colorado, that is known for originally starting out with the name of Gebhard in 1876 and for primarily being a ranching town. Major attractions in the area include the Wonder Tower and Lincoln Lanes. Among the biggest companies in Agate are Prairie Networks and Diamond H Excavating. The biggest schools in this area include the Agate Junior/Senior High School and Coastalfields. One of the best places to visit when you are in the Agate region is the Tamarack Golf Club.
