. Our event kicked off at 6:30pm and everything was great other than our DJ having to finish up setting up his wiring in the middle of guest arriving. At 10pm our festivities had ended and the rest of the night was for dancing. Much of the older crowd left. At 10:30pm a young adult guest approached me that they would not give her water, that it would cost her $2. She had no money with her so I went to the bar and WOW, there was George the owner. I asked about water he rudely said "the kitchen is closed, bottled water is $2." I paid for the girls water and announced over the mic that the facility will not serve water and I apologized for any inconvenience and I would pay for anyones water if they would like some. A couple people approached me and asked for some. When I went back to pay for it I suggested to George that he write that in the contract because some people come without money assuming water is usually free. We celebrated my son's 18th bday on Friday May20 and though our guests raved about the beautiful appearance and the delicious food. They had no idea the hell we had to deal with from the owner and staff. They were so kind and accommodating until they got our payment in full. 3 days before our event they told us we could set-up/decorate the day before from 2pm-7pm and after 10am the day of. My son went for a couple of hours the day of and we all returned at 4pm with the DJ and photographer. Our event started at 6:30pm and they kicked us out at 5pm. When i questioned it the owner George said it stated in our contract that we only had 2 hours to decorate and we had already exceeded that. I reviewed my contract and that was not stated anywhere and suddenly George was nowhere to be found. They wouldn't even let us use the restroom to change our clothes. My entire family of 8 walked across the street where they graciously accommodated us and told us this happens all the time. (see next post) ...read more

How do you use name recognition? -- My Response -- The routine with Jeff&Peanut; is superbly funny to me regarding his name and dot com. Myself, I hired a singer/songwriter to assemble a CharmandHappy.com Jingle. I have it posted on my website for viewers along with a page that includes the words and the option to download. Funny bit of info.... My friend Jack M., who is a Magician/Balloon Artist even has my Jingle on his iPod HE takes to events. ;0). I have this song play at the beginning&end of most of my appearances on a portable music player next to my CharmandHappy.com Photo Banner I hang on my ShowBox. One of the magic tricks I perform is to use a Magic Bag with the end revealing a CharmandHappy.com Tshirt as a gift for the Bday child. If working a company event, then I make sure I choose a child who'd the t-shirt would fit and the shirt would be one that excludes Happy Birthday printed. One of the contests at the party is for the participants to say "CharmandHappy.com" 3 times clearly without messing up. and another contest is the Singing Contest where participants get a print out of the words as they try to sing their own way to the CharmandHappy.com Jingle. I started an online YouTube contest, but with being pregnant at the time and dealing with other biz & family, I never followed thru with that, but I plan to soon.
