I have an external hard drive of 1 TB that goes error (it detect for 5 seconds and then undetected and then detected again and undetected again and so on), I don’t know how can I DELETE all data inside the external hard drive so I want to retrieve my lost data. A couple months ago, I backed up all my files (pictures, videos, documents, music) to an external hard drive my dad bought a while back. I had to factory reset my HP since it wasn't working well. About a week ago, I went to retrieve all of the files only to have my computer tell me I couldn't access the files unless I formatted the drive. My computer is less frequently able to recognize when I plug it in and I'm not sure what I can do to get the hundreds of thousands of pictures off before I lose them for good. My hard drive is not detected, i have checked it on my friends computers, on 4computers and not detected. hard is Seagate 60 gb ide drive and my data is about 54 gb . We have reports, that Lexmark has re-engineered their newer model ink and laser printers that are electronically coded to only accept genuine name brand Lexmark toner and ink cartridges. This in my opinion is in clear violation of the Sherman Anti Trust laws that protect consumers form a tying restriction of one product they own, to another product that they are required to purchase to work. In order to fight back and keep your right to find a better deal on otherwise expensive ink or toner cartridges from the original manufacturer, we recommend you do not purchase lexmark office equipment. Stay with HP or other brands which don't stand in the way of your choice to use recycled and compatible ink and toner cartridges. ...read more
