To those new to embroidery, the craft of turning images into stitches is called digitizing. Digitizing in the embroidery world, is far different than the process of digitial image manipulation. A trained embroidery digitizer will create a machine code that represents the length and direction of embroidery thread. The stitches can be "satin", "fill", "tatami" and many others which add texture and design to the embroidery. Many factors go into the price of a good digitized embroidery design; the number of estimated stitches, color changes, changes in stitch type, detail in the design, fabric used etc... Some designs take as little as 20 minutes to digitize and some as long as 5-6 hours to digitize. It really depends on the skill of the digitizer. We often here the comments, " I just need to put my design on a shirt. Can you just scan it?"
